Comprehensive Financial Plan

We have a case study to do for Friday. This one is about making a current budget and then a recommended budget. But the selling factor is that I need to make the budget one that they *WANT* to do. The "client" has goals they want to work towards. My job in this case study is to do my very best to make it work without killing their lifestyle. So I can't tell them to cut all their spending to next to nothing because then what's the point in having any life at all?

When you look at your budget, even a simple one, income minus expenses should leave some left over for savings and goals. When I look at mine (remember, I'm a student) it's pretty dreary at times. When I started school I cut a lot of extra things out like cable and changed my cell phone plan. These are things I can relate to my potential future clients. It sucks but it's something you just have to do sometimes.

So off I go to work on my case study. I am hoping I can help my fake clients to lead a happy and prosperous fake life :-)

Studying

What else is new? I'm a student and therefore I am spending my night not watching tv or going out to do anything, instead I am studying. Which is good.

Tonight it is the CSC volume 2 that is taking up my brain power. I just finished my tax assignment so I can at least cross that off my list. I have a CSC test on Wednesday, then a Life Insurance test on Friday. I have a case study for Comprehensive Financial Planning due on Friday as well as something else for that course and two things due for Strategic Client Engagement. Let me just say, this week is busy but I don't expect it to get any easier :-)

I remember getting up early and going into work and my boss never cared that I was busy doing something else, they just piled the next assignment on top. Luckily I can prioritize very easily and I very rarely, if ever disappointed them.

I find this course challenging and I love how it is all coming together. I never thought I'd see a time when Consumer Credit and analyzing someone's GDS would come naturally to me :-)

So off I go to study. "The more that you learn, the more places you'll go" according to Dr. Seuss and I for one happen to agree.

Money Figures Introduction

Money is such a complicated issue. It seems easy enough, money comes in and money goes out. I am starting this blog as my first step towards achieving my own financial goals and I hope that anyone who follows along will see the efforts I am making and perhaps they will learn something from my mistakes and successes.

I am in my final semester at Fanshawe College in London Ontario, Canada and in my previous semester (3rd term) I achieved a GPA of 3.944 which is almost an A+ average. I am quite proud of my accomplishments thus far.

  • I passed my mutual funds exam with 71%
  • I passed my first CSC Exam with 76%.
Both of those licenses have a very high failure rate so I am quite proud of what I have achieved.

I am on track to take my second CSC in the spring as well as my first CFP exam and LLP qualifier. I have been the treasurer of Ontario Immigrant Network for over one year now.

I am not qualified to give financial advice as of yet but I am hoping that in April when I complete the rest of my studies I will find employment where I can help other people with their financial plans.

I hope you enjoy my blog! If you follow me I will return the favour. I have other interests on top of finances such as being crafty and I enjoy gardening. So I am more then happy to follow any blogs with topics such as those.
